Damaged Goods

Our new bedroom furniture arrived today (the second pic)! The chest came in first and it looked great, I couldn't wait to see the dresser and the bed... unforunately they were both seriously damaged when the movers opened the boxes. :( sad day... oh well the chest and foot board made it. Two pieces down, two to go :)

August trip to Washington!

Dave and I had a blast at the Mann family Reunion in Washington State. Along with hanging out with the fam we went on my first backpacking and camping trip. While I wouldn't want to do it every week, or month it was nice to be in nature and do nothing. My biggest freak out moment wasn't hiking in with a heavy pack, not going to the bathroom (little and big poddy) in the woods, not seeing a rattlesnake, not eating food with grit in it but crossing a freaking cold stream. We were on a day hike and had crossed a log to check out the other side of the water and continued to hike a distance that there was no going back to the log. As we tried to find somewhere to cross the rocks were too spread apart, but when we looked ahead it looked like the rocks were closer together. All of that looking ahead was like a mirage, the rocks were never as close together as we thought when we approached them. So Dave and Mark decided we were going to cross and we all took our shoes and socks off... Dave went first very cautiously placing each foot so he wouldn't slip on a mossy rock. I put my feet in and about died, there was no way I was getting across!I took a few steps and then lunged for the next big rock to sit on and pull my feet up. Mark was quite tolerant of my ravings about the water. I finally went and ran like heck. Then Mark cruised across after me without complaint. So the story is kind of weak but looking back it was pretty funny to see how each of our personalities were magnified by crossing the stream... (backpacking pictures still to come)

Bye Bye :(

Our good friends Rob and Teri have recently moved to Winston Salem (where Dave and I have just moved from)! We had a few months of overlap but otherwise completely flip flopped with them. Our timing was lousy but we're glad to have such good friends and live in a time when we can communicate in a zip. We hope to see you guys soon!

Back to Work

I couldn't believe how long it took to find a job! It has been 2 months since we moved to Utah and now I am finally back to work. I'm working as an exec. secretary for two MD's who are the director and co-director of several research projects. I have enjoyed my first week back being busy again minus the outrageous traffic on my daily commute. Dave has been working about 2 times as much as me working 15+ hour days on his general surgery rotation. He has been awesome through all of his exhaustion and hasn't complained a bit, I'm so proud of him! We're looking forward to this weekend to have a little time off to relax.

Extreme Blogging

My sister's friend Susan designs blogs and creates fun, free backgrounds. If you're getting bored with your blog and want to try something different, you should check out her site. She's got some great designs and adds new ones all the time. Enjoy!
